Tourism is important business for Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades. As the leading employer and the primary economic engine for the region, the tourism industry is responsible for 31,300 jobs in Collier County. Nearly 1.4 million visitors in 2007 spent over $791 million dollars, resulting in a total annual economic impact of over $1.17 billion within Collier County.

Residents benefit from the tourism industry through enhanced amenities in the community and through tax savings. Annual tax savings of over $546 per resident is estimated thanks to the expenditures of visitors. Visitors leave over $13 million in tourist development taxes in our region and they provide $74 million in sales and gas tax revenue.

Tourist development taxes pay for extensive beach renourishment programs in Collier County along with museums, special programs and events and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, which supports the tourism industry through advertising and promotion.
