In her job as communications manager for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, JoNell Modys spends much of her time providing news releases, story ideas, fun facts and photography to journalists seeking to write about vacations in Naples, Marco Island and the Gulf Coast Everglades. She has escorted travel writers to all corners of the destination, including swamp walks in the Fakahatchee Strand, dolphin research cruises, kayak fishing in the Everglades, and on shopping, dining and art gallery jaunts throughout the Naples and Marco Island areas. During her off hours, she enjoys boating to barrier island beaches, fishing the estuaries, gardening, cooking, photography and reading mystery novels, especially those written by Florida authors.
