The rare flower

A rare ghost orchid started blooming at Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary just northeast of downtown Naples on June 23.  The plant, thought to be over 30 years old, was first discovered last year.  Maybe a storm knocked down a branch that previously hid it from view, who knows?  This specimen has been nicknamed the "super ghost" since, for the second summer in a row, it has produced multiple blossoms.  It had seven blooms visible last week but some heavy rain took its toll.  Now there are a few blossoms and several more buds, so there could be a few weeks of...[Read More]
