January – Southwest Florida Nature Festival
: features guided trips to birding hot spots, educational and fun family activities. Hosted by the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Reserve.
May 1-October 31 – Sea Turtle Nesting Season: the annual season for sea turtles to build nests and lay their eggs on Southwest Florida beaches.
September – Clyde Butcher’s Annual Labor Day Muck-About
: a weekend filled with guided swamp walks in the Big Cypress National Preserve
October 28-29, 2011 – First Annual Florida Panther Festival
