Naples, FL (September 21, 2016) – The Pro Watercross World Championship roars back to 60-acre Lake Avalon at Sugden Regional Park today through Sunday for the second year in a row, thanks to sponsorship from the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The event features the world's best powersports athletes as well as the up-and-coming men and women in the highly explosive and exciting sport of personal watercraft racing, also known as “watercross”.

Top riders from all over the world utilize some of the most advanced equipment and technology to help their watercrafts reach speeds of over 90 miles-per-hour. Throughout the event riders will engage in a fierce battle of skill, technology and innovation on and off the water, combining the electricity and appeal of traditional beach events with the high-speed thrills of competitive motorsports. Many relate this to supercross on water.

The event is free to the public to watch from the stands and the lakeshore around Lake Avalon. CBS Sports will be there filming on Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. for a one-hour TV show airing October 18th at 9:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. Other media planning to cover the event include Univision and online magazines Pro Rider and Watercraft Journal.

Attendees can also visit Performance Alley that showcases the latest models in the powersports industry including personal watercraft, motorcycles, ATVs, cars, pleasure boats and more. The industry’s trendiest designers will be on hand to display and sell the most popular powersports lifestyle attire.

The event is taking place with the sponsorship of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau and the assistance of the Sports Council of Collier County.
