PRO WATERCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURNS TO NAPLES

New watersports events added to the event lineup

Naples, Fla. (September 28, 2017) – The Pro Watercross World Championships return to Sugden Regional Park in Naples, FL October 27-November 5, 2017 for the third year. The action-packed event week starts with the 2nd Annual Hydroflight World Championships October 27-29 and an encore performance by the real-life ‘Iron Man’ and Flyboard inventor, Franky Zappata, along with wake board, paddleboard, and MotoSurf competitions leading up to the thrilling season-ending Pro Watercross competition.

The Broward Motorsports Pro Watercross World Championships presented by Heyday Wake Boats features the world's best athletes on the water as well as the up-and-coming men and women in each individual watersport. The watercross finals will be filmed for airing December 18, 2017 on CBS Sports Network.

“We’re excited about the expanded lineup the event brings back to Florida’s Paradise Coast this year,” said Jack Wert, executive director of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitor Bureau. “Hurricane Irma blew through here in early September almost as fast as these world-class competitors fly across the water. We want everyone to know the area is open for business and we invite all to come for a visit, enjoy our beaches, attractions and restaurants – and see some thrilling watersports action first-hand.”

Flyboard inventor Franky Zapata will be suiting up in his latest and greatest invention, the Flyboard Air Board to kick off the event series. Spectators are in for a thrill. The Air Board’s inaugural USA flight in 2016 took the internet by storm with a viral video with over 52 million views.

On Tuesday, October 31 attendees can view the Heyday Wake Boat Board and Surf competition. Heyday will show off its new 2018 WT-3 wake boat with a hull designed specifically to throw a massive wake for both wake surfing and wake boarding with free demo rides.

On Wednesday, November 1 the pace changes to man-powered momentum as stand up paddleboarders (SUP) take to the water for closed course racing around Lake Avalon. SUP races typically are a long straight course but these paddlers will take to the buoys, making the same turns and straightaways as watercross racers, just at a much calmer speed.

Pro Watercross this year also welcomes MotoSurf World Cup for its 2017 season grand finale. MotoSurfing is an entirely new sport established in the Czech Republic with motorized surfboards produced by JetSurf.

Pro Watercross action takes place November 2-5 with skilled personal watercraft riders reaching speeds of up to 85 miles per hour during fierce battles of skill and innovation.

Spectators get in free for all the events. Sugden Regional Park’s Lake Avalon offers a 360-degree viewing area for all the action. For more event information visit ProWatercross.com.
