Naples, Fla. (June 15, 2010) – The vibrant communities of Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City, Immokalee, and Ave Maria comprise the Paradise Coast region of Southwest Florida. The area ranges between over 30 miles of white sand beaches, along with natural mangrove coastal areas, to vast expanses of pristine inland wilderness preserved as park or conservation land, with vibrant and growing urban areas in between. If you haven’t visited the area recently there is plenty to explore that’s new since your last visit.

For more information on where to stay, things to do and information about visiting the Paradise Coast, visit the convention and visitors bureau’s official visitor information Web site, www.ParadiseCoast.com, or call 1-800-688-3600 for a free visitors guide. From outside the United States, call 1-239-225-1013.

The Coast is Clear

Beaches in Naples, Marco Island and the Gulf Coast Everglades are clean and clear and have not been affected by the oil spill created by the accident on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in Gulf of Mexico waters south of Louisiana. Even though tar balls from the spill have reached the shores of the Florida Panhandle in Pensacola, the Paradise Coast beaches are on the Southwest Gulf Coast, over 700 miles from the Florida Panhandle. Officials are monitoring the movement of the oil and are ready to take preventative action should the oil become caught in currents that would bring it south. Wind and currents are currently keeping the oil far away from Southwest Florida. If current do bring the oil south, emergency managers predict the oil will remain several hundred miles offshore. Daily beach conditions, informational updates and live beach Web cams are available at www.ParadiseCoast.com.
