A 729,000-acre unit of the National Park Service in south Florida. Located in eastern Collier County, it is part of the Everglades ecosystem and a critical watershed for the Ten Thousand Islands area to the southwest. A diverse wild area of cypress swamps, prairies, pinelands, hardwood hammocks and mangrove estuary and is home to a variety of wildlife.

These unique chapters in American history add to the rich and colorful tableau that comprises our shared past and present.
