| A 729,000-acre unit of the National Park Service in south Florida. Located in eastern Collier County, it is part of the Everglades ecosystem and a critical watershed for the Ten Thousand Islands area to the southwest. A diverse wild area of cypress swamps, prairies, pinelands, hardwood hammocks and mangrove estuary and is home to a variety of wildlife. Directions: Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center on U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trl.), about 30 mi. east of Naples and 70 mi. west of Miami.
