Conditions can change daily. Despite the recent outbreak of red tide along the coastline, area boat tour and fishing charter captains report they are finding clear water and good to excellent conditions for fishing and sightseeing, especially in the Ten Thousand Islands and the Gulf Coast part of Everglades National Park.

While these conditions exist, take advantage of our many inland activities such as attractions, restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and museums.

    Facts About Red Tide

Red Tide is a naturally-occurring organism and blooms begin offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Winds and tides can move red tide closer to beaches and inlets. When red tide blooms the Karenia brevis organism releases a toxin into the water and the air that can cause respiratory irritation in humans and can kill fish and sea life. Review the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium's informative Red Tide FAQ.
