WHAT:   Summer Institute for Marine Science

HOW:    Cost is $150 per student for the week and registration is required

Students with an interest in marine science will learn about the coastal environment of Southwest Florida with Rookery Bay staff and local researchers during the Summer Institute for Marine Science, Aug. 6 – 10, 2018. This weeklong program brings students into the estuary for hands-on experiences relating to ecology, marine biology, sustainability, and citizen science. Activities will include:

Exploration of the bays, barrier islands and beachesCollection and Identification of Invertebrates and other wildlifePulling trawl nets and exploring in the Rookery Bay Estuary to learn more about the animals and plant-life that call your coastal backyard home!Field trips to marine science and environmental centers in Southwest Florida  including MOTE Marine Aquarium, FGCU's Vester Marine Lab and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida
