CMON ANNOUNCES FREE ADMISSION FOR ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY FAMILIES

Friday, May 19, 2023

NAPLES, Florida (May 19, 2023) — The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples (CMON) is excited to once again announce its participation as part of Blue Star Museums, a program offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families each summer from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day. CMON is proud to be a part of this national appreciation program to thank our military families for their service and share our mission of providing an exciting and inspiring environment where children and their families play, learn, and dream together.

All active military family members, including up to five adults or children in a party, will be granted complimentary admission to CMON. This program will be active starting Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20 and ends on Labor Day, Monday, September 4. Military family members can still participate, as the active-duty member does not have to be present to use the program.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America. Armed Forces Day was established in 1949 for citizens to come together and thank military members for their patriotic service. Blue Star Museums include children’s museums, art, science, and history museums, zoos, gardens, lighthouses, and more, and hail from all 50 states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For a list of participating museums, visit https://www.arts.gov/initiatives/blue-star-museums.

The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps—and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

About the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples

The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples is a brain-building powerhouse and Southwest Florida’s first museum devoted for children and families to learn through play. With hands-on exhibit galleries, the accessible museum invites visitors of all ages to journey through the swamps of the Everglades, weave through a maze, climb a two-story banyan tree, or experiment with the water play station. Children can become a weather forecaster, a farmer, a chef, a fisherman, an artist, an architect, or a veterinarian; explore the cold of an igloo, the whoosh of the wind, the sound of the sea, and the effects of gravity. Throughout the day special activities encourage our guests to get involved, try something new and be energized. CMON offers a variety of interactive exhibits providing kids with education, play, learning, science, technology, engineering, inventions, space exploration, art, math, storybooks, creation, building, sensory, and child development.
