The preserve provides regularly scheduled Ranger-led swamp walks, canoe/kayak trips, bike rides and other special activities and events throughout the winter season. Check website for schedules and call the Visitor Center to make reservations.

The Nathaniel P. Reed Visitors Center is an interagency center for all public lands within the Big Cypress Swamp. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits, educational materials, and an introductory film to the swamp and its recreational opportunities. It also hosts a Florida National Parks Association bookstore and gift shop. Public restrooms, information about ranger-led activities and a boardwalk for viewing wildlife are also available here.
