At the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa, wellness takes many forms throughout the day—from sunrise yoga on the beach to meditation by the water, sound bathing, and locally-sourced Gulf seafood.

Whether you’re visiting for a girls’ weekend, babymoon, or family vacation, Lifestyle Coordinator Angie Williams explains that the goal is simple: “To create a beautiful oasis for our guests to escape, where they don't have all the distractions they do back home.”

Executive Chef Sean Ellis describes this philosophy as offering guests the opportunity to “find their sunset,” meaning the moments that help them pause and enjoy where they are—something he uses as a guiding principle in the kitchen.

Wellness on the Beach and Beyond

Throughout the day, the resort offers everything from meditation sessions to beach yoga, Pilates, spin classes, tai chi, and aqua aerobics.

“Being able to use the five senses on the beach is very healing,” Williams says. “You feel the sun on your body, hear the water, and see the horizon. Those are the moments people remember when they return home.” Full moon yoga, held once each month in the early morning, allows participants to watch the moon descend toward the Gulf while practicing on the sand.

There’s also the popular sound bath experience, which takes place several times a month and can be done by the pool or in the studio. “It’s better than any medicine…When people are done with it, it looks like they just slept for five days straight,” Williams says.

Plus, the wellness-focused staff is always open to ideas. “You can truly turn any single room in this property into a wellness retreat… we've done yoga out on one of the penthouses on the top floor of the 11th floor with that beautiful sunset view.”

The Spa and a Space to Reset

The Spa by JW extends that same mindset indoors, offering treatments that help guests maintain that relaxed state. Services range from facials and full-body massages to hydrotherapy treatments and nail services. Guests can also access the spa’s steam room, sauna, plunge pool, and relaxation areas before or after their appointment.

One of the spa’s most popular services is the Five Senses Massage, which incorporates scent, sound, touch, taste, and visual elements into the experience. Lavender aromatherapy accompanies reggae music during the massage, while a small frozen treat closes the experience.

Outside of the spa treatment menu, William also explains, “we want to teach guests tools they can take home with them,” she says. “Meditation doesn’t only happen on vacation. It can happen while you’re brushing your teeth, driving in the car, or getting ready for the day.”

Wellness Through the Kitchen

While Williams focuses on physical and mental well-being through movement and relaxation, Chef Sean Ellis approaches wellness from another direction: food.

“Marco Island is a Blue Zone community, so we embrace that and put it into our food here at the resort,” he explains. Instead of frying foods, the culinary team often uses roasting or grilling techniques and favors olive oil, legumes, nuts, and vegetables.

Seafood, of course, also plays an important role in the menus. Local species such as spiny lobster, red snapper, and black grouper appear regularly, paired with vegetables, grains, and citrus. “You’re able to enjoy Florida grouper or spiny lobster while sitting on the beach and watching the sunset,” Ellis says. “That’s really the experience we want guests to have.”

The culinary team also collaborates with other departments across the resort. Herbs grown in the on-site JW Garden (next to Ario) are used in dishes, beverages, and spa treatments, linking dining with the resort’s broader wellness efforts.

Finding Your Sunset

Guests at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort are encouraged to “find their sunset” during their stay, which typically looks different for everyone. For some, it happens during sunrise yoga on the beach or a quiet moment at the spa. For others, it may be dinner overlooking the Gulf as the sky changes colors. Over time, those moments begin to define what a stay on Marco Island feels like: Paradise in Every Sense.
