Ted Smallwood: The Man Behind the Store at Museum of the Everglades
Ted Smallwood: The Man Behind the Store at Museum of the Everglades
Museum Assistant Mathew Anderson will create a biographical sketch of C.S. “Ted” Smallwood: early pioneer settler and proprietor of the iconic general store, post office and trading post (now operating as a museum) that bore his name. Mr. Anderson will share the history of how Ted came to the 10,000 Islands, anecdotes about Smallwood’s relationship with the region’s indigenous people, his role in the community, and his own personal connection to this founding family of Chokoloskee Bay country.
