Arts Center Theatre Presents “Baggage”

A Delightful Comedy about Love and Second Chances

Performances November 6–23, 2025 | Directed by Pattie Ziesig

Marco Island, FL October 14, 2025 Marco Island Center for the Arts’ Arts Center Theatre announces cast for its season opening production of “Baggage, a witty and heartwarming comedy written by Sam Bobrick and directed by Pattie Ziesig. Performances will run November 6–23, 2025, at the Arts Center Theatre, located at 1089 N. Collier Blvd in the Marco Town Center.

In Baggage, two difficult, lonely people find themselves thrown together by a hilarious mishap when their luggage gets mixed up at the airport. Their rocky beginning soon transforms into something unexpected as they discover that sometimes, love can arrive in the most unlikely of ways — even when you’re carrying a little “baggage.”

Playwright Sam Bobrick made his way to New York where, after a brief fling writing songs — one of them being “The Girl of My Best Friend”, recorded by Elvis Presley — he drifted into the world of television. His impressive list of writing credits includes classics such as Captain Kangaroo, The Flintstones, The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, Bewitched, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and Saved by the Bell. Bobrick later turned his creative talents to theatre, writing or co-writing more than 40 plays, including Murder at the Howard Johnson’s, Weekend Comedy, Baggage, The Crazy Time, Getting Sara Married, Remember Me?, and Hamlet II (Better Than the Original). He also doctored the book for the original Broadway production of The Wiz.

This charming production features an exceptional local cast bringing Bobrick’s quick wit and warmth to life:

  • Jean Rowles as Phyllis
  • Ron Trebilcock as Bradley
  • Carolyn Davis as Mitzi
  • Glenn Davis as Jonathan

Director Pattie Ziesig brings her signature warmth and comedic sensibility to this production, creating a show that will have audiences laughing and reflecting on life’s unexpected second chances.

Baggage reminds us that everyone has a past — and that it’s possible to find connection, humor, and hope even after life’s toughest moments,” said Ziesig. “It’s a perfect story for audiences who love smart comedy with heart.”
