January Exhibitions at Marco Island Center for the Arts Highlight Florida’s Natural Coastal Beauty in “Magic of the Sea”

Marco Island, FL – January 8, 2026 Marco Island Center for the Arts welcomes the new year with two engaging January exhibitions that highlight the beauty of Florida’s natural landscapes and the personal journey of artistic expression.

Opening January 12, the Art Center’s main galleries will feature “Magic of the Sea”, a group exhibition celebrating the beauty and inspiration of Florida’s coastal environments, from shimmering shorelines, expansive seascapes, and the magic of the interconnection of mangroves throughout. The exhibition brings together three artists working in distinct mediums to interpret the natural rhythms and visual poetry of the uniquely ‘Florida’ coastline:

•           Douglas David, presenting sweeping oil seascapes, mangroves and sea birds

•           Jim Freeman, exhibiting coastal photography

•           Peggy Keigley, whose fiber art adds texture and depth to Florida-inspired maritime scenes.

“Magic of the Sea” will be on view from January 12 through February 24, 2026, with gallery receptions on January 13 and February 10 at 5:30 PM. These receptions are open to the public and offer an opportunity to meet the artists and experience the exhibition firsthand.

La Petite Galerie features Margo Kostecka’s “Reflections”

Also opening January 12 in La Petite Galerie is Reflections, a solo exhibition by artist Margo Kostecka, on view through January 27, 2026, with an opening reception on January 13 at 5:30 PM.

Kostecka’s artistic journey began early, sparked by encouragement from a fourth-grade teacher who recognized her talent. She studied art at the Toledo Museum of Art from grades four through eight, continued her education through high school, and earned a degree in Fine Arts from Ohio University. She went on to enjoy a distinguished 30-year career as an art educator, teaching grades 1–12 and working across all artistic disciplines.

Both exhibitions will be on view at Marco Island Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island, Florida. For more information about exhibitions, events, and gallery hours, visit www.marcoislandart.org or call 239-394-4221.
