LAST “ART FLICKS” FILM TO BE SHOWN ON MARCH 10TH
Published on February 20, 2026
Marco Island, FL—February 20, 2026—The Marco Island Center for the Arts will show the fourth and last of the four films in the 2026 Art Flicks series themed “Strength and Resilience” at 1010 Winterberry Drive at 10AM on Tuesday, March 10th.
Saint Ralph (2004) 14-year-old Ralph Walker has a case of raging hormones that land him into mischievous trouble. His Catholic school headmaster signs him up for the school track team where he discovers a gift for running. When told that his sick mother won’t recover without a miracle, Ralph decides to create one by setting out to win the 1954 Boston Marathon. Inspired by true events, this offbeat comedy delivers an inspirational story. The film draws on the real-life 1906 Boston Round the Bay race winner, Tom Longboat, and the director’s own 1995 win in the Boston Marathon.
“So far, the 2026 series has been a rousing success,” commented Joan Gerberding, Art Flicks committee chair. “Our attendees, many of whom stop me in the supermarket to comment, have all given two thumbs up to our film selections.”
The Art Flicks series was originally launched in January of 2014 and ran for seven years before COVID shut it down. The series began as a way to feature FREE theme-based films and FREE refreshments, followed by lively discussions for both residents and island visitors who are interested in the art and wonder of film. The series was re-launched by the original committee members in January 2025 to rave reviews and full houses.
The Art Center doors open starting at 9:15am with each film’s introduction starting at 10am. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis. All films are shown with subtitles for a better movie going experience.
“While the movie and refreshments are always free, we ask for donations at the end of each film, with 100% of the money presented to the Art Center,” continued Gerberding.
“Our patrons have been very generous, allowing us to donate $17,000 to the Art Center during the 9-year series run. And that number will go higher once this last film is shown.”
