7Mary34 Productions: A Few Good Men at Marco Island Center for the Arts
Marco Island, FL – September 23, 2024 – Get ready for an electrifying experience as 7Mary34 Productions brings Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed courtroom drama, A Few Good Men, to the stage at Marco Island Center for the Arts' Arts Center Theatre from October 4 to October 13, 2024. This Broadway hit, which first premiered at the Music Box Theatre in 1989, dives deep into themes of honor, duty, and the complexities of military life.
Set against the backdrop of Guantanamo Bay, A Few Good Men follows the trial of two Marines accused of complicity in the death of a fellow Marine. Initially, the defense lawyer, LT Daniel Kaffee, played by Pete Fisher, is more focused on softball games than the serious nature of the case. However, with the encouragement of his determined defense partner, LT Commander Joanne Galloway, portrayed by Allison Lund, Kaffee rises to the occasion, challenging the very foundations of military ethics and the Marine code of honor.
Director Trace Talley, inspired by the original production during his ninth-grade visit to the Kennedy Center, emphasizes the richness of Sorkin's script: “This movie is like in every guy’s top five movies of all time, but nobody knows it was a show before it was a movie. There’s so much more detail in the show than there was in the movie, and I want people to see that,” said Talley.
The cast features remarkable talent, including Noah Lynch as Lance Corporal Harold W. Dawson, Jake Raterman as PFC Louden Downey, and Jesse Stauffer as the formidable Lt Col Nathan R. Jessep. “The cast is so strong that they carry the story, and the story is its own character,” Talley added. “I think that you’ll forget about Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson… at least for the two hours you’re here.”
