8TH ANNUAL “ART FLICKS” FILM PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
Marco Island, FL—January 6, 2025—The Marco Island Center for the Arts has announced the launch of its eighth annual “Art Flicks” program, featuring foreign, independent and “art” films. Interrupted for several years by COVID and hurricanes, The Art Flicks committee is happy to again bring this highly successful, theme-based program back to our island.
Now, with films shown at the Art Center itself, at 1010 Winterberry Drive at 10AM, the series features FREE theme-based films, refreshments and lively discussions for both residents and island visitors who are interested in the art of film.
The theme for 2025 is “Happy Endings” and will feature the following movies:
Tuesday, January 28: “Enchanted April”
Tuesday, February 11: “Educating Rita”
Tuesday, February 25: “Harold and Maude”
Tuesday March 11: “Shirley Valentine”
“The Art Flicks program was first launched in 2014,” commented program Chair, Joan Gerberding. “Our committee dedicates their time during the fall and winter researching and watching films until we determine the four best films that fit the theme. Initially designed to help create a more well-rounded appeal for an already robust art, instructional class, and exhibit schedule at the Center for the Arts, we are just thrilled to bring Art Flicks back to Marco and to the Art Center, where it belongs.”
The line forms outside the Art Center starts at 9am, with our doors opening for the start of the program by 9:45am. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The film’s introduction starts at 10am.
While the movie and refreshments are free, donations are happily accepted at the end of each film, with 100% of the money presented to the Art Center to continue their important work here on Marco Island. Because funding for the arts has been drastically cut in 2024 and 2025, we encourage patrons to donate as much as they can to keep this vital organization’s doors open to our community.
