Ben Rosenblum Jazz Returns to Marco Island Center for the Arts with Unique Music and Live Art Performance
January 31, 2025, Marco Island, FL — The Marco Island Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce that Ben Rosenblum Jazz will return to the Center on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, for a special performance that merges the worlds of music and visual art. This unique concert will feature a fully improvised collaboration between Ben Rosenblum, renowned pianist, accordionist, and composer, and his wife Yoko Sano, an acclaimed pastel artist from Hayama, Japan. The performance will be inspired by Marco Island and the energy of the moment, with live music and painting unfolding in real time.
Rosenblum, a frequent performer at the Marco Island Center for the Arts, will be joined by his long-time collaborator, drummer-percussionist Ben Zweig, to complete the trio. The performance will showcase Rosenblum’s signature melodic jazz style, alongside Sano’s evocative pastel paintings, as the duo creates a truly one-of-a-kind artistic experience.
Ben Rosenblum has built a remarkable career that spans more than twenty music genres and has taken him to over twenty-five countries. He has worked with world-class musicians, including Grammy-winning artists such as Rickie Lee Jones and Curtis Lundy, as well as Juno-recognized Kiran Ahluwalia. A celebrated leader of his own bands, Rosenblum has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, and Yokohama’s Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall.
Yoko Sano, a visual artist with over two decades of experience, brings a wealth of artistic expertise to the performance. Sano has exhibited her pastel, acrylic, and multimedia works in Japan and New York, while also working as an instructor and collaborator with various musicians. Her artistic career has spanned from traditional Japanese painting to creating album covers for prominent New York musicians.
Together with Rosenblum, Sano’s live painting performance will add a new layer of creativity to the evening’s improvisational music.
