Explore the Power of Light and Perception in “Transparency” and Urban Energy in Art David’s “From the Street” Photography at the Marco Island Center for the Arts
January 8, 2025 Marco Island, FL – The Marco Island Center for the Arts is excited to announce two exceptional exhibitions to start out 2025: Transparency, featuring works by Giampaolo Curreri, Judi Haller, Nan LaRosa, Mary Limont, Carol Wareing, and Conrad Williams, and Art David’s From the Street photography exhibition in La Petite Galerie. “Transparency” will be on view from January 12 to February 25, 2025 and “From the Street” will be on view in La Petite Galerie January 13-28.
Transparency delves into the visual and conceptual impact of light passing through materials, transforming how we perceive color, form, and texture. Each participating artist brings their unique interpretation of transparency, inviting viewers to explore its many facets through diverse mediums.
• Giampaolo Curreri presents a series of intellectually stimulating paintings that engage with intellectual transparency. His works go beyond aesthetics to challenge viewers to reflect on moments in time, urging them to think critically about the deeper ideas embedded within his intricate compositions.
• Judi Haller’s sculptures offer an exploration of the three degrees of transparency, capturing shifting perspectives in each layered piece. Her works provoke curiosity and invite viewers to uncover the deeper meanings hidden beneath the surface.
• Nan LaRosa creates paintings that convey a stunning sense of light through the meticulous use of clear materials. Her works are imbued with an extraordinary realism, where transparency allows light to bring the scenes to life, creating vibrant, almost tangible moments.
• Mary Limont brings wearable art to life with a dynamic jewelry collection that embraces transparency. Her designs respond to light, with each piece creating a radiant effect as the wearer moves, offering an interactive experience that changes with the viewer’s perspective.
• Carol Wareing’s watercolors embrace transparency as a medium, layering colors to reveal underlying images and create depth. This process offers a sense of mystery and discovery that wouldn’t be possible with opaque materials, inviting the viewer to see beyond the surface.
• Conrad Williams showcases breathtaking sculptures that embody the transmission of light. His skillful manipulation of glass allows light to pass through and reflect in mesmerizing ways, creating pieces that seem to move and shift depending on the viewer’s perspective.
From the Street – La Petite Galerie
From the Street, a photography exhibition by Art David, takes visitors on a journey through the vibrant world of urban art. In this series, David captures street scenes that act as dynamic stages for human expression. With a keen eye for detail, David frames moments of joy, intrigue, and the curious oddities found in the streets.
“I gravitate toward the unexpected,” says David. “Whether it’s people in moments of joy or a street corner where light and color create something special, I capture those fleeting moments. I don’t just photograph scenes; I create photographic art.”
David focuses primarily on showcasing “happy people” caught in spontaneous moments of joy. However, some images explore the rich textures of urban environments, with buildings, walls, and facades becoming commentary on the artists who created them. At times, the combination of character, lighting, and form brings out the “personality” of the scene.
“Taking photographs of people and street scenes is like a game of ‘Whack-A-Mole’,” David explains. “The game never ends—there will always be new people and magnificent scenery to capture.”
Both exhibitions offer a rich experience of light, perception, and creativity, with Transparency offering an intriguing exploration of the visual impact of light and materials, and From the Street showcasing the spontaneous energy of urban life.
The Marco Island Center for the Arts invites visitors to experience these fascinating exhibitions, “Transparency” will be on view from January 12 to February 25, 2025 and “From the Street” will be on view in La Petite Galerie January 13-28.
