Laughs Take Center Stage for July All-Star Comedy and Improv Show on Marco Island
The Marco Island Center for the Arts announces a can't-miss evening of comedy as part of the Venturino’s Comedy Series at the Arts Center Theatre. On Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 PM, the spotlight will shine on two titans of sketch and improv: Kevin McDonald and Gregory Hollimon. This special one-night-only show brings together legendary talent from some of comedy’s most iconic productions.
Kevin McDonald, co-founder of the beloved Canadian sketch troupe The Kids in the Hall, brings his signature characters and wit to the stage. Known for his roles as the King of Empty Promises, Sir Simon Milligan, and Jerry Sizzler, McDonald’s eccentric humor has delighted fans for decades. In addition to Kids in the Hall, his prolific career includes appearances in That '70s Show, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, and voice roles in animated hits like Lilo & Stitch, Invader Zim, and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. His resume also includes hosting Sketch with Kevin McDonald on CBC and performing his acclaimed one-man show Hammy and the Kids.
Sharing the stage is the equally hilarious and compelling Gregory Hollimon, best known for his role as Principal Blackman on the cult-classic TV series Strangers with Candy. Hollimon’s comedic roots run deep, beginning in Chicago’s vibrant improv scene where he worked alongside Stephen Colbert, Amy Sedaris, and Paul Dinello as part of Second City’s National Touring Company. In addition to television and film roles, Hollimon has earned acclaim in theatre productions and continues to showcase his unmatched versatility and charisma as a live performer.
“This is a true celebration of the art of comedy,” said the event’s producer Larry Venturino. “To bring together performers of this caliber—who’ve shaped the very fabric of modern sketch and improv—is an honor and a joy. It’s going to be an unforgettable evening.”
Tickets for the All-Star performance on July 18 performance at 7:30 PM are expected to sell quickly. Audiences are encouraged to reserve their seats early for what promises to be an uproarious night of laughter and spontaneous fun.
