Method & Concept contemporary art gallery showcases the second annual Dia De Muertos art exhibition from October 21st until November 6th, 2024.

Embracing our local heritage of Hispanic traditions and coinciding with Arte Viva celebrations, the Dia de Muertos art exhibition connects to the memory of beloved family and friends, visually depicted using a variety of art media.

Traditionally a Mexican cultural celebration, this exhibition combines paintings, sculpture and mixed media to unite our community in joyful remembrance. Exhibition highlights include, a large-scale ofrendas (alter) as well as traditional hand-made wears from Mexico for an interactive flea market installation (mercado de pulgas).

New to 2024, artist interpretations of the traditional Mexican mask will also be on display throughout the gallery. The exhibition features artwork from juried call-to-artists as well as artists by invitation including the gelatin silver print photography of New York-born, Puerto Rico-raised, Omar Cruz of South Beach Miami. Also, an artist by invitation, Juan Diaz, a Columbian-born painter whose work is a visual narrative of the vast spectrum of human experience. Silverpoint artist, Lauren Amalia Redding skillfully merges hand-drawn imagery from history, space exploration and her Cuban heritage.

Maria Pia Malerba showcases artwork that reflects her creative aptitude in the realms of both fine art and wearable design. Alum of the New York Academy of Art, sculptor Brett F Harvey known for his monumental public art and human figurative work, will showcase new work in-line with the explorative exhibition theme of Dia De Muertos. Revisiting the iconic characters of the political illustrator and printmaker, Jose Guadalupe Posada (1832 – 1913, Mexico), Method & Concept director and curator pays homage to the father of La Calavera Catrina, with large-scale installations throughout the gallery. Exhibiting artists of the open-call-to-artists include a spectrum of student and professional artists whose submitted work embodies the spirit of the exhibition theme.
