In this lecture, we examine the “angry young men” movement, the Beatles, Hammer Film Production’s gothic horror films, Merchant Ivory Productions’ retelling of the classics and actors like Helen Mirren, Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh, who became stars on this side of the Atlantic as British film gained more international acclaim.
